Partnerships
Last November, our team traveled to Uganda to spend time with one of our global partners, Ekisa Ministries-listening, learning, and dreaming about what the future could hold. Ekisa has built a beautiful, community-centered model of care for children with disabilities. Together, we began asking a new question: What comes next?
What does it look like for these children, as they transition into adulthood, to be known, valued, and given meaningful opportunities?
Through this partnership, a vision began to take shape: a "Place of Purpose" where residential and community-based individuals can experience vocational pathways, life skills programming, and social belonging.
With the support of a two-year grant, that vision is already underway with a focus on sustainability. In its first year, an on-campus farm-with goats, chickens, and produce-is being developed to provide dignifying employment and daily rhythms of belonging.
It's a small beginning, but it will only continue to grow as we join Ekisa in choosing, day in and day out, to rewrite the story of disability around the world.
